Dear Friends of the Folk Orchestra,

For almost six years, your support and your presence has helped the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara become “a cherished musical institution” (The Independent, October 17). As you enjoy our holiday concerts we hope that as you consider holiday giving, you’ll remember the Folk Orchestra.

Founded by Adam Phillips in January of 2017, the FOSB is made up entirely of LOCAL musicians who give their time and talent to creating beautiful music. Inspired by folk traditions around the world and arranged by Adam, the music connects past and present in a style that is unique in the United States. It has been a treat to bring this music to our community, but treats cost money. Many of the musicians are professionals, we have costs for some rehearsal and performance spaces, and marketing the events is not all free.

Indeed, all arts organizations depend in part on ticket sales, but they are not enough to fully support the work and the artists. So we’re asking again for your help. You can make tax-deductible donations to the Folk Orchestra—by check through our current fiscal sponsor, The Santa Barbara Foundation, or directly to FOSB via Venmo or PayPal. The money will flow directly to the Folk Orchestra to help it thrive and survive and keep exploring world music to the delight of our many fans.

With your help, we can keep this truly unique Central Coast treasure alive for years to come. And thanks for continuing to be our ambassadors, as you spread the word about the Orchestra. As you know, once you have seen one show . . . you want to see them all! Bring a friend!

See you in 2024, and many thanks for your support of the Folk Orchestra.
